La neurorradiología intervencionista

La neurorradiología intervencionista es un área de la radiología orientada al tratamiento de enfermedades del cerebro y médula espinal. Esta área tanto en nuestro país, como en el resto del mundo, ha registrado un enorme desarrollo en los últimos años.

Básicamente la mayor parte de los procedimientos que realizamos en el Hospital La Salud, se efectúan con pequeños tubos (microcatéteres) que desde la ingle o la muñeca, nos permiten acceder a los vasos del cerebro, cuello y médula; de forma similar a los cateterismos que realizan los cardiólogos. 

Estas técnicas que pertenecen al grupo de los tratamientos mínimamente invasivo las llevamos a cabo en una sala con un angiográfo digital (que emplea Rayos-X), con capacidad para realizar reconstrucciones tridimensionales, que permiten efectuar estudios anatómicos detallados de las diferentes lesiones que pretendemos tratar. Esta sala dispone de medios anestésicos y en general de todo tipo de dispositivos iguales a los que existen en un quirófano, con la única diferencia de que se ubica en el Servicio de Radiología.
